Edward Eugene Jones, 83, of Big Spring died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012, in a local nursing home. Private family services will be held at the Texas Veterans Cemetery in Abilene.
He will lie in state at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home through Sunday, Aug. 19. 2012.
He was born Oct. 10, 1928, in Hermleigh, Texas, and married Dorothy Rae Derr on Dec. 27, 1974, in Houston.
He worked for T&P Railroad and for GAMCO/Math Master. He had also owned restaurants in Lawton, Okla. Edward served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of the Church of Christ and the American Legion.
He attended college at Abilene Christian College and Tarleton State University.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Rae Jones of Big Spring; one son, Bart Jones of Austin; two daughters, Noma Barker of Snyder, Okla., and Amber Jones of Big Spring; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother and one grandson.
