Emma Dean Baggett

Emma Dean Baggett, 101, formerly of Big Spring and mother of James Michael Baggett and Janice B. Deats, died Feb. 15, 2012, at the Pine Harbour Assisted Living Facility in Plattsburgh, N.Y.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rex Baggett.

Born April 1, 1910, in Decatur, Texas, Emma taught kindergarten and trained kindergarten teachers for 30 years at First United Methodist Church in Big Spring. She also served as secretary to Dr. Anthony Hunt, former president of Howard College.

For 30 years she had been a member of the Fellowship of Reconciliation. At the age of 94, she moved from a retirement home in Fort Worth, Texas, to spend her final years in New York near her two children.

She is survived by her children and their families; and her sister, Jackie Browning of Worthington, Ohio. She will be buried beside Rex at the family cemetery in Decatur, Texas.
