Ernestine Childers

Ernestine "Granny" Childers, 87, of Big Spring, died Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, at Midway Baptist Church, Big Spring with the Rev. Jim Binix, officiating. Interment will follow at Coahoma Cemetery, Coahoma. 
She was born May 23, 1926, in Eastland County, Texas, and married William T. "Bill" Childers Dec. 24, 1943, in Gorman, Texas. He preceded her in death April 14, 1996.
Ernestine had worked at Hall Bennett Hospital and as a substitute for
Coahoma ISD. She was a member of Midway Baptist Church, where she taught
Sunday School, Bible School and worked in the nursery.
She loved working in the yard; enjoyed cooking and sports and
especially enjoyed her time with her family.
Survivors include one daughter, Cheryl New and husband, Roy of Big
Spring; three sons, Mike Childers and wife, Karen of Allen, Tim Childers and Jeff Childers and wife, Stacey all of Big Spring; one brother, Gene Jumper and wife, LaDell of Midland; one sister, Betty Waters and husband, Ray of Midland; five grandchildren, Michelle Fryar and husband, Jay, Michael Childers and wife, Melanie, Joshua Childers, Josh Childers and wife, Amber and Ryan Childers; three great-grandchildren, Ryleigh Jade Fryar, Xavia Childers and Gracie Childers; three step-grandchildren, Quaid Harris, Amber and family and Trina and family; Clarice Lloyd of Elmendorf, Texas, who was like a daughter; multiple nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and cousins.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents,
Clarence E. and Reney Hagar Jumper; her mother and father-in-law, Lake and Hattie Childers and a grandson, James Thomas Childers.
