FAST track very good for Forsan

December 16, 2010

FORSAN — School officials here are pointing with pride to a state report that indicates the district is getting a bang for its educational bucks.

As part of the state-mandated Financial Allocation Study for Texas (FAST), Forsan Independent School District's expenditures were compared to those of similarly sized districts across the state, and FISD came out the the highest-rated district of the group.

“This report was required by the 2009 Texas Legislature as a way for the comptroller's office to identify schools and campuses that use … allocation practices that contribute to high academic achievement and cost-effective operations,” FISD Superintendent Randy Johnson said. “They looked at a lot of factors, including dollars spent per child and TAKS scores, to determine whether our money was well spent or not. Credit was given to districts that showed really high test scores or dramatic improvement in test scores over a three-year span.”
