Fidel Martinez, 57, of Big Spring, Texas, died Saturday March 8, 2014 at University Medical Center in Lubbock. Vigil services will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at Myers & Smith Chapel. Funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with the Rev. Bernard L. Gully officiating.

He was born to Paula and Adelaido Martinez Sr. Nov. 23, 1956 in Big Spring. He was a lifetime resident of Big Spring and graduated from Big Spring High School in 1975. He married Margie Hernandez July 27, 1975. He worked as an auto mechanic at Shroyer Motor Company and as a self-employed auto mechanic. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife, Margie Martinez of Big Spring; three daughters, Jennifer Uribe, Christina Rodriguez and husband Steve, Ashley French and husband Jason, all of Big Spring; two sons, Fidel (Sluggo) Martinez Jr. and Christopher Martinez, both of Big Spring; five brothers, Joe Martinez and wife Debra of Pecos, Texas, Adelaido Martinez Jr. of Big Spring, Jack Martinez and wife Melanie of Cape Coral, Fla., David Martinez and wife Mikki of Elgin,Texas, Ricky Martinez of Big Spring; three sisters, Mary Lopez and husband Deacon Victor Lopez of Midland, Texas, Lupe Hodges and husband Hubert of Big Spring, Yolanda Bryant and husband Ray also of Big Spring along with 14 grandchildren.
