Big Spring High School has named Andrew James Fillingim as valedictorian for the class of 2011.
Andrew, son of Glenn and Casie Fillingim of Big Spring, graduates with a grade-point average of 4.0. Fillingim was inducted into the National Honor Society his junior year. He was part of the French Club for three years and student council representative for three years. He was a member of the all region band for three years and part of the honor band all four years of high school. He was a 4A area band qualifier three years and participated and was a state qualifier in solo/ensemble. Also he was a member of the marching band for four years and drum line captain his senior year.
Deanna Saije Clare, daughter of Gary and Kimberly Clare of Big Spring, has been named as salutatorian for the class of 2011.
She graduates with a grade-point average of 3.98. Clare was inducted into NHS her junior year and served as parliamentarian for two years. She was a member of the University Interscholastic League literary criticism team for three years. She was also one of the two students honored by the Morning Optimist Club in 2010.
