Film buffs sought for 'Dark Crystal'

September 16, 2011

The Big Spring Film Society is looking for a few good men ... and women.

The local film society is looking for volunteers to help with its final screening of the season Saturday, Sept. 24, when the organization plans to present “The Dark Crystal” at Big Spring State Park.

According to Film Society Chairman Brandon Johnson, the screening — part of the group's annual summer screening series which began this year with “Back to the Future” and “Ghostbusters” — represents a major accomplishment for the organization.

“We've seen so much support from the community this year,” Johnson said. “The screenings have been really well attended, and so many people have stepped up to volunteer their time and resources. When we first started doing these presentations, that's exactly what we were aiming for.
