Firefighters battling wildfire; homes threatened

Beginning about 3 p.m. today (Thursday, July 10) firefighters had been battling a wildfire that has threatened houses and other buildings south of Thorpe Road in Big Spring near Clanton. As of 4:30, officials said the fire was surrounded and being allowed to burn out while firefighters protected homes in the area.
