Florence Lavern Hitchcock

Funeral services for Florence Lavern Hitchcock will be at 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, at Meador-Clement-Keel Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Burnett, pastor of Era Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Valley View Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hitchcock died Sept. 25, 2013, at Denton Regional Hospital at the age of 71.

Florence was born Nov. 14, 1941, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Harold and Florabelle Oldaker. She married Leroy "Lee" Hitchcock Oct. 14, 1960. She was a long-time resident of Big Spring, Texas and worked at Lawrence IGA as a pastry chef. Florence moved to Era in 2010 and was a member of Era Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Carter of Brakeville, La.; son, Bobby Hitchcock of Waco; daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Mark Miller of Era; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Wendell Keith Oldaker of Big Spring; and sister, Jennie Lynn Davis of Baytown, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother, Melvin Lee Oldaker; and sister, Margie Cunningham.
