Forsan band marching on to state

The legacy continues.
The Forsan High School band is gearing up to make its eighth consecutive appearance at the state marching contest under the leadership of band director Jim Rhodes.
“We're over the initial excitement and are now getting back to work to improve the show,” Rhodes said. “The students are working very hard. They are very focused, and they are wanting to improve, not just be satisfied that they got there.
“We had a big clinic Monday night where we had seven other band directors come and help us,” he continued. “The students were very receptive, and we've improved from Saturday. Today (Wednesday,) we were focusing on our music because it is going to come down to who plays the best, even if it is a marching contest. If you don't sound well marching, you are just not going to make it.”
Prelims for the Class 1A University Scholastic League State Marching Contest are set for Monday morning at the Alamodome in San Antonio.
