Forsan band qualifies for state marching contest

October 28, 2013

And the band plays on.

Forsan High School Band steps on to state while the Coahoma High School ended it's marching contest season Saturday.

Earning top honors at Area Class 1A contest, Forsan qualified for its eighth consecutive trip to University Interscholastic League (UIL) state contest under the leadership of band director of Jim Rhodes. The band placed first in the finals held in Ratliff Stadium, Odessa.

Coahoma band had a little further to go — Amarillo — for Class 2A Area competition.

And although Coahoma didn't advance from the prelims, their performance at Regionals will place the band in contention to earn a Sweepstakes Award.

State Marching contest is set for Tuesday, Nov. 4, in San Antonio
