Forsan ends season with win over Hawley

November 6, 2010

Forsan finished 4-6, 2-4 in district play this season. It was the first season the Buffs competed in Class 2A.

FORSAN ― Forsan finally got the win it was searching for after a few down weeks.

The Buffaloes finally got back to scoring a lot of point through the likes of Brendan Roman, Kolten Self and Ty Johnson after a 47-36 win over Hawley to end the season Friday.

The Buffs had taken losses to Idalou, Coahoma and Stanton before Friday's game.

“It was a good game,” head coach Jason Phillips said. “We played really well both sides of the ball. Offensively, we were kind of back to our old self. Defensively, they stepped up when we needed them to and they had a lot of big plays as well. Even our special teams made a couple of key plays. (Hawley) onside kicked every single time but one and we were having to make plays on special teams.”

Johnson was the key in Friday's win, accumulating 13 carries on 266 yards and three scores. Quarterback Foster Burchett was 5-of-13 for 126 yards and four touchdowns and two picks. Self had two catches for 75 yards and two scores. Roman had a touchdown catch as well.
