Forsan ISD hoping for the best, preparing for the worst

FORSAN — School district officials are planning for a leaner future, financially speaking.

With Texas facing a multi-billion dollar shortfall, it stands to reason that schools will have to make do with less state aid for the next few years, and Forsan Independent School District officials are already taking steps to prepare for that eventuality.

It is unknown exactly how much state aid Forsan will lose this coming fiscal year, but even conservative estimates place the figure north of $900,000, which would represent a significant financial hit, Superintendent Randy Johnson said. “

Hopefully, the news will turn out a little better by the time the state legislature adopts its budget … but we're looking at and preparing for the worst-case scenario now,” Johnson said.
