Forsan ISD Superintendent Randy Johnson
FORSAN — School district trustees here will consider improvement to district-owned housing when they hold their regular monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Monday in the administration building board room.
Forsan Independent School District currently provides 14 houses on a reduced-rent basis to administrators and other extra-duty personnel such as coaches and band directors. But age is starting to catch up to those dwellings, Superintendent Randy Johnson said.
“We have funds budgeted to replace the electrical wiring and perform general maintenance to two of those houses this fiscal year,” Johnson said. “A big part of this is safety — we've got a lot of old wiring in those houses that needs to be replaced.”
The procedure is anything but cheap, he added.
“We've got to pull out all of the wiring. That means we'll have a lot of holes in the walls,” he said. “Then we need to patch those holes, repaint and perform other maintenance. Plus we have to decide if we're going to help with relocation costs for the people living in those homes.”
