Foster families thanked

April 29, 2011

A World for Children showed appreciation to its six local foster families Thursday afternoon. The families were treated to a short program and catered lunch. Fostering is about family and creating a special bond.

A World for Children, a foundation aimed at finding “forever families” for children referred through Child Protective Services, held an appreciation luncheon for its foster families Thursday at St. Mary's Episcopal Church.

“Without foster families we wouldn't be an agency,” said Isaac Miramontes, foster home developer. “We truly appreciate what these families do for us.”

April is Foster Parent Appreciation Month and each year during April and May, appreciation luncheons are held for foster families involved with A Word for Children, according to Paul Willis, the organization's president.
