People are running out of time if they want to purchase tickets to this year's Big Spring Area Chamber of Commerce Banquet.
Debbye ValVerde, executive director of the chamber, said Friday is the final day to buy tickets for this year's event, which will be held at 7 p.m. Jan. 31 in Howard College's Dorothy Garrett Coliseum. Tickets cost $25 apiece.
This year's event is titled, “Moving Forward With Every Step,” an idea that dovetails nicely with both the banquet and the chamber's overall mission, ValVerde said.
“The banquet is not only important to our members, but to others in the community as well,” she said. “When we all work together … it's easy for us as a community to move forward.”
The highlight of the banquet will be the naming of the chamber's man and woman of the year, who will be introduced by Marc Marchesseault and Sherry Hodnett, last year's winners.
In a bit of a departure from previous banquets, there will be no guest speaker at this year's event. Instead, Eddie Vandewalker and the students with the Howard College Music Department will perform.
Other banquet highlights include the passing of the gavel from outgoing Chamber President Jan Foresyth to her successor, Jim Clements.
Banquet sponsors are Alon USA, GEO group, Oncor, State National Bank, Wal-Mart, Water Water and Wells Fargo Bank, ValVerde said.
Tickets can be purchased at the chamber office, located at 215 W. Third St.
