Gary A. Harris, 69, of Big Spring, died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012, at the Hospice House. He will lie in state Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012, and Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012, at Myers & Smith Funeral Home.
He was born April 17, 1943, in San Angelo, Texas to Marietta and J.B. Harris. He grew up in San Angelo, Texas and attended school there. He came to Howard County from Water Valley 12 years ago. He served in the Army Air Corps from 1960 until 1972. He had worked in the oil field, but was a plumber by trade. He enjoyed fishing and his dog Max.
He is survived by two daughters: Lacy Jo Crotts and husband Jeremy and their son Ethan, of Frisco and Mary Fuller and husband Steve and children Austin, Aiden, Riley and Reagan, all of Ft. Worth; one brother Jim Harris and his wife Ginger of Ohio and a sister Nancy Mabry and husband Jim of New Mexico; and several nieces and nephews.
In additional to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Ken Harris and Carl Harris and a sister Frances Webber.
