Gary A. Harris

Gary A. Harris, 69, of Big Spring died Thursday, Sep. 13, 2012, at the Hospice House. He will lie in state Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012, and Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012, at Myers & Smith Funeral Home.

He was born April 17, 1943, in San Angelo, Texas, to Marietta and J.B. Harris. He grew up in Water Valley and attended school there. He came to Howard County from Water Valley 12 years ago. He served in the Army Air Corps from 1960 until 1972. He had worked in the oil field but was a plumber by trade.

He is survived by two daughters, Lacy Jo Crotts and husband Jeremy of Frisco and Mary Fuller and husband of Fort Worth; five grandchildren; one brother, Jim Harris and wife Ginger of Ohio; a sister, Nancy Mabry and husband Jim of New Mexico; and several nieces and nephews.

In additional to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ken Harris and Carl Harris; and a sister, Frances Webber.
