Gem and Mineral Show set for March 3-4

Crossroads area residents will soon have the opportunity to pick up unique gifts, have fun and gain some knowledge as the 43rd annual Gem and Mineral Show in on the horizon.
Big Spring Prospector’s Club will put on its show March 3-4 in the Howard County Fair Barn, off FM 700. Hours will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
There is no admission fee and each youngster will be given a free polished stone at the door.
Lola Lamb, secretary-treasurer for the club, said there will be a lot to offer those who attend.
“There is something of interest for any age group,” said the longtime rockhound.
“We’ll have 10 dealers bringing in quality items. Unlike previous years, these are all from Texas but they travel a lot and bring us gems and minerals from all over the world,” Lamb said.
Door prizes will be given away hourly during the two-day event.
Visitors will have the opportunity to vote on displays crafted by Big Spring, Midland and Lubbock club members and vote on their favorite one.
They’ll also be able to ask the vendors questions about their hobby and purchase materials to help them get started working with gems and minerals.
Close to the ever-popular spinning wheel — where every spin wins a prize — will be a snack bar featuring hotdogs, hamburgers and the usual fare.
