George C. 'Buddy' Clinton Sr.

George C. “Buddy” Clinton Sr., 85, of Big Spring died Tuesday, July 10, 2012, in Sonora, Texas. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. Friday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at Myers & Smith Chapel with Chaplain Jim Wright officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Olive Memorial Park.

He was born April 30, 1927, in Haskell, Texas, to Katherine and Robert Clinton. He moved to Howard County in 1939 from Haskell. He married Gladys Collier on June 7, 1947, in Big Spring. She preceded him in death April 12, 2005.

He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in Korea. He was a unit operator at Cosden for 37 years. He retired in 1984. He was a Baptist.

He is survived by one son, Dub Clinton of Big Spring; six grandchildren, Tanya Hartman (James) of Sonora, Cameron Clinton of Austin, Rachael O’Neil (Richard) all of Austin, Jeff Reed of Kirkland, Washington, Suzanne Reed and Ami Byrd, both of Denton; nine great-grandchildren, Maegan Hartman, Katie Hartman, Hayden Hartman, Payton and Delaynie Clinton, Alyssa, Alex and Jonathan Byrd, Scarlet O’Neil, Gracie Reed. He is also survived by one brother, Elmer Clinton (June); and one sister, Helen Larson, all of Big Spring.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Donna Reed; and three sisters, Vivian Ethridge, Itasca Decker and Prudie Armstrong.

The family suggests memorials to Sutton County Health Foundation, P.O. Box 18, Sonora, TX 76950.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Reed, Cameron Clinton, David Larson, Tim Larson and James Hartman. Honorary pallbearers will be Daryl Wood, Ignacio Hernandez and Roger Miller.
