George W. Ivy

The Rev. George W. Ivy died Dec. 4, 2013, at Scenic Mountain Hospital in Big Spring, Texas, at the age of 94.
He was born Oct. 29, 1919, to Lorenzo Price Ivy and Norah Robinson Ivy, in Van Zandt County, Texas. He married Ludene Mitchell Sept. 9, 1938. She preceded him in death Aug. 24, 2005.
He was a licensed minister with the Church of God, Cleveland, Tenn., beginning his ministry in 1948. He pastored churches in Haskell, Midland, Abilene, Lubbock, Amarillo and Fort Worth. He also served in the Navy in 1944 and 1945.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita of Big Spring, Texas; daughters, Betty Pruitt and husband Ken of Midland, Texas, Gay Lawhon and husband Floyd of Deland, Fla.; a son, Larry Ivy and wife Billie of Eula, Texas; eight grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren; a stepson, Gary Osburn and wife Janet of Big Spring, Texas; a step-daughter, Janice Shields and husband Royce of Fort Worth, Texas; eight step-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren; a brother, Loyd Ivy and wife Sarah of Mesquite, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and four sisters.
Visitation will be Monday evening, Dec. 9, 2013, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at White's Funeral Home, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Dec. 10, 2013, at the Church of God Campground, Fort Worth Hwy., Weatherford. The Rev. Floyd H. Lawhon will be officiating, assisted by Pastor Eddie Prince. Interment will be at East Greenwood Cemetery immediately following the service.
