Gilbert Webb

Gilbert Webb, 87, died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, at his residence. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Myers & Smith Chapel with burial at Mount Olive Memorial Park.

He was born March 23, 1925, in Dialville, Texas, to Venie and Matthew Webb. He married Alice Ann Ashley, March 24, 1950, in Big Spring. She preceded him in death June 7, 2005. He was a lifetime resident of Big Spring and a member of East Fourth Baptist Church. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corps in Europe. He was a mechanic on the B-17 and B-25 bombers. He was a field maintenance supervisor at Webb Air Force Base until it closed.

He is survived by two sons, David Webb and his wife Rebecca of Austin and Paul Webb of Big Spring; two granddaughters; and two great-grandchildren.
