Grand jury indicts 31

Three former employees accused of stealing money from Specs and Co. were among 31 people indicted by the Howard County Grand Jury Thursday.

Big Spring residents Frances Alcantar, 32, Amy Castillo, 36, and Katie Richters, 24, were indicted on a total of four counts of theft over $1,500/under $20,000, a state jail felony punishable by up to two years imprisonment.

Assistant Howard County District Attorney Robin D. Orr confirmed that the three were indicted on thefts alleged to occur at Specs and Co. between December 2010 and this past April, but declined to comment further on the cases' details, saying that an investigation is ongoing and further charges are possible.

Also indicted by the grand jury Thursday were:

• Andrea Denise Alender, 38, Howard County Jail, two counts of theft under $1,500 with two previous convictions (state jail felony).
• John Erio Anderson, 43, Lubbock, evading arrest (state jail felony) and aggravated assault against a public servant (first degree felony).
• Beverly Rynel Armstrong, 49, 821 W. Eighth, possession of a controlled substance (state jail felony).
• Jose Alfredo Arenivaz, 44, 100 Carey, driving while intoxicated (third degree felony).
• Aaron Mekel Barnes, 28, 706 E. 13th, burglary of a building (state jail felony).
• Felicia Canales, 22, 1002 N. Main No. 68, harassment of a public servant (third degree felony) and delivery of a controlled substance (state jail felony).
• Cody Gene Carlile, 33, 4304 Connally, driving while intoxicated (third degree felony).
• Shaylon tobias Cerda, 33, 900 S. Aylesford, two counts of injury to a child (state jail felony and third degree felony, respectively).
• Jesse Dean Contreras, 25, 2504 Hunter, unauthorized use of a vehicle (state jail felony).
• Benigo DeLaRosa Jr., 41, Howard County Jail, possession of marijuana under 2,000 pounds (second degree felony).
• Sergio Hervey DeLaRosa, 28, Big Lake, possession of marijuana under 2,000 pounds (second degree felony).
• Jerry Don Duffer, 24, Howard County Jail, burglary of a habitation (first degree felony-enhanced).
• Lester Claude Duffer, 31, Howard County Jail, burglary of a habitation (first degree felony-enhanced).
• Billy Joe Edmondson, 30, 7010 Linderman, evading arrest (state jail felony).
• Juan Pablo Ferdin, 51, Dallas, possession of a controlled substance (state jail felony).
• Daniel Vierra Flores, 42, 908 15th, unlawful possession of firearm by a felon (third degree felony).
• Martin Hernandez Garcia, 40, Odessa, possession of controlled substance with intent to deliver (first degree felony).
• Rafael Ontiveros Garcia, Midland, possession of controlled substance with intent to deliver (first degree felony).
• Robert Donald Gilbert, 43, 538 Westover No. 110, possession of a controlled substance (state jail felony).
• Veronica Gonzales, 40, 1905 Wasson, possession of marijuana under 2,000 pounds (second degree felony).
• John Peter Gordon, 23, 3611 Hamilton, possession of a controlled substance (second degree felony) and delivery of a controlled substance (state jail felony).
• Sheila Renae Gordon, 43, 3611 Hamilton, possession of a controlled subtance (second degree felony.
• Travis Clint Hull, 38, Howard County Jail, possession of controlled substance with intent to deliver (first degree felony-enhanced).
• Calvin Jacob Lawson, 26, Howard County Jail, unauthorized use of a vehicle (state jail felony), assault on a family member/impeding breathing or circulation (third degree felony) and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon (second degree felony).
• Krystal Michelle Oliver, 26, 3509 E. Interstate 20 No. 27, possession of a controlled substance (state jail felony).
• Jacob Daniel Petrowski, 21, 2803 Apache, possession of a controlled substance (state jail felony).
• Megan Brooke Scarbrough, 21, 2814 Coronado, possession of a controlled substance (state jail felony).
• Tony Ybarra, 30, San Angelo, possession of marijuana under 2,000 pounds (second degree felony.
