Grand jury no-bills Sand Springs shooter

December 24, 2013

A 118th District grand jury declined to indict a Howard County man for his role in a September shooting death.

The Howard County grand jury no-billed L.C. Gibbs in the Sept. 21 shooting death of Bobby Reed in Sand Springs, District Attorney Hardy L. Wilkerson said.

According to reports, Howard County sheriff’s deputies reponded to 8705 Gillem Road in Sand Springs in reference to an assault. Upon arriving at the scene, they found Reed dead from a gunshot wound.

The particulars of the shooting were never released to the public, although Sheriff Stan Parker said at one point that “there had been a domestic/family altercation that led to the shooting.”

Discussion of the case took up much of the grand jury’s time during its session, said Wilkerson, who declined to comment on the no-bill.
