Group vows to continue search for missing teen

May 17, 2011

Hailey Dunn

As the search for 13-year-old Hailey Dunn, who disappeared from her home in Colorado City in late December, trudges into its fifth month, volunteers say the young West Texas girl is being forgotten.

Mychelle Grissom, one of many volunteers who have searched fields in and around the Colorado City area — and surrounding communities — for clues to the girl's disappearance said search parties have dwindled in the past couple of months.

“In Colorado City, search groups are routinely one to five people and it's dropped to one day a week,” Grissom, a Big Spring resident, said. “People are giving up. However, we are not giving up. We can't. This child needs us. She needs justice. People are forgetting this is about Hailey.”

Hailey Dunn has been the focus of a region-wide search since her mother reported her missing to the Colorado City Police Department Dec. 28.
