Guadalupe 'Lupe' Alcantar Ramirez

Guadalupe “Lupe” Alcantar Ramirez, 82, of Big Spring died Monday Jan. 27, 2014, at her residence. Vigil services will be 7 p.m. Wednesday at Myers & Smith Chapel. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with burial following at Mount Olive Memorial Park.

She was born to Isabel and Andres Alcantar Sr. in Big Spring on Dec. 31, 1931. She was a lifelong resident of Big Spring. She worked at the Big Spring State Hospital kitchen. She married Eusebio Ramirez in Big Spring in March 1949. He preceded her in death September 2, 1986.

She is survived by two sons: Andrew Aguirre and wife Rosa of Big Spring and Daniel Ramirez of Big Spring; two daughters: Olga Sanchez and husband Cruz of Big Spring and Sylvia Cantu and husband Jesse of Big Spring; 24 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and one brother, Andres Alcantar Jr of Midland.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter: Yolanda Anglin in 1997; two sons: Rudy Ramirez in 1978 and Joe Ramirez in 1994; one grandson: Chris Puga in 2014; and one great-grandson: Matthew Hernandez in 2013.

Those serving as pallbearers are Mark Sanchez, Ernesto Diaz Jr., Adam Aguirre, A.J. Martinez, Gilbert Puga Jr., and Roland Anglin.
