Hangar 25's cook-off set for Monday

Get ready to cook-off at Hangar 25 Air Museum. The Flightline Cookbook Cook-off has been rescheduled for Memorial Day. Each entry must be a dish from the “Cooking with Hangar 25” cookbook. “This is a great way to promote our cookbook and participate in the community,” Genevieve Stockburger, museum administrator, said. This will be the first time a cook-off has been held at the hangar, but Stockburger said she feels it is something fun, entertaining and beneficial to the community and the museum. “Staying involved in the community is important to us,” she said. “This is a way we can do it while having fun and it is beneficial at the same time.” Those interested in cooking can register at the museum or online. Registration is $7 and must be completed by May 23. “For those cooking we ask that they be at the Hangar earlier, but more information, including the cooking and judging times, will be received when they register,” Stockburger said. Entrants will be assigned an area and will be able to decorate their area as they wish. Sampling materials and a label with their name and the name of their dish will be provided.There will also be time for those wanting to sample the dishes and see just what the cookbook has to offer. For $3, those attending can sample each of the entries. For children under the age of 12 who want to sample, the cost is $1. Prizes will be awarded for the first through third place winners. Each of the dishes submitted must come from the “Home Cooking with Hangar 25” cookbook.
