Hayes Franklin Stripling Jr., 87, of Big Spring, Texas, died Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013, at the First United Methodist Church in Big Spring with the Rev. Keith Wiseman, the Rev. Bill Ivins and the Rev. Barbara Kirk-Norris officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Olive Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013, at the funeral home.
He was born Sept. 22, 1926, in Big Spring, Texas, and married Dorothy Satterwhite Sept. 16, 1955, in Lamesa, Texas. She preceded him in death Aug. 22, 2011.

He was a graduate of Big Spring High School and 1946 graduate of Texas A&M. Hayes was Big Spring Man of the Year in 2008. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, a member of the Rotary Club and Boy Scouts.

He is survived by two sons, Hayes Stripling III and wife Tammy of Granbury, Texas, and Kyle Stripling and wife Kay of Marble Falls, Texas; seven grandchildren and a sister, Jane Jones of Big Spring.
