Help an Angel this Christmas season

November 14, 2013

Almost 200 Howard County families are depending on you for a merry Christmas.

That's roughly the number of people who have applied for the Salvation Army's annual Angel Tree program, which solicits Christmas gifts for needy children and seniors in this area.

Ada Lafler of the local Salvation Army office said 133 families registered their children for the program, while about 50 seniors applied.

“Actually, that number is a little bit more than last year,” Lafler said.

SA officials will spend the next few days verifying the applications. Those accepted into the program will have their names onto “angel tags.”

The week before Thanksgiving, those tags will be placed on Christmas trees located at several businesses across town.
