Adopt a Military Hero, Howard County’s Christmas for the Troops, is calling on volunteers to help wrap-up its annual drive to send gifts to deployed military personnel.

“We have everything set up like an assembly line,” said Debbie Burrow, program coordinator. “We’ve already prepackaged boxes. We know what order they need to be packed in for it all to go there. Then they are sealed up and the post office picks them up on Friday.”
“It’s important that we send these and it’s hard to do it by ourselves, so we need the public to help us pack them,” she said. “It takes an hour and hour and half. It’s not a long time to pack them it just takes months to get it to this point.”

Volunteers are asked to meet at 6 p.m. Thursday at the First Christian Church, 911 Goliad, to pack more than 500 boxes before they are sent out to deployed military personal.
