Henry R. Valverde

Henry R. Valverde, 55, of Big Spring, died Wednesday July 2, 2014, at University Medical Center in Lubbock. Vigil services will be 7 p.m. Monday at Myers & Smith Chapel. Funeral mass will be 11 a.m. Tuesday with burial following at Mount Olive Memorial Park.

Henry was born in Pecos, Texas, to Susana and Luis O. Valverde on July 29, 1958. He spent most of his life in Big Spring and was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. He married Margie Rocha on May 12, 1985, in Big Spring. He was working as a truck driver in the oil field. He had also worked for Walker Construction in Coahoma.

He is survived by his wife Margie Valverde of Big Spring; father Luis O. Valverde of Big Spring; one sister Mary Lou Saldana and husband Tony of Big Spring; two brothers Larry Valverde and wife Debbye of Big Spring and Jesse Valverde of Lubbock. He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews including Severa Rocha who was like a daughter, Roxanne Skinner and her husband Jeremy, Charlie Valverde and wife Priscilla, Jesse Herrera Jr. and Julian Herrera; his sister and brother-in–laws Mary Ann Rocha and husband Joe Rocha Jr., Maria and Rudy Ortega, Cruz and Arthur Olague Sr., Beatrice Rocha, Lucy Rubio and husband Frankie Rubio, Alvino Rocha, Inez Smithwick all of Big Spring, Donny Rocha Sr. and wife Connie of Odessa along with several nieces and nephews and his “Child” Chica.

Preceding him in death was his Mother Susana Rojo and one brother Luis Jose Valverde.

Those serving as pallbearers will be Charlie Valverde, Jesse Herrera, Julian Herrera, Marc (Bubba) Ybarra, Demetrio Rocha, Aaron Olague, Isaac (I-20) Martinez and Daniel Gonzales Jr.
