Historic Bankhead Highway subject of book signing at Heritage Museum

April 23, 2014

A historical part of Texas road infrastructure will be at the forefront of conversation Saturday when Dan L. Smith, author of “The Bankhead Highway in Texas,” appears at a book signing and lecture at the Heritage Museum.

“The Bankhead Highway was one of the earliest intercontinental highways in America,” said museum curator Tammy Schrecengost. “This roadway followed closely along Highway 80 which ran through downtown Big Spring. We are excited that Mr. Smith will be visiting our museum, and we hope the public will turn out to listen to his lecture on this significant part of our local history.”
