August 30, 2013

There will be very little laboring on Labor Day for area municipal and education employees.

In observance of Labor Day, most municipal and county offices will be closed Monday, officials said.

The City of Big Spring will close all offices, including the landfill, on Monday, and there will be no sanitation pickup, according to a news release from City Manager Todd Darden.

Emergency services (police, fire and ambulance) will continue normal operations and the On-Call Emergency Utilities Department can be contacted at 264-2392.

Likewise, all Howard County non-emergency offices will be closed Monday, officials said.
Normal city and county operations will resume Tuesday.

All Howard County public school districts will be closed Monday, as will Howard College. Classes resume Tuesday morning, officials said.
