Holston Banks Sr., 72, of Big Spring died Friday, June 21, 2013, at Sante Fe Hospital in Temple, Texas. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 29, 2013, at Myers & Smith Chapel. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the VFW building.

He was born to the Rev. Hosea and Pauline Banks on Dec. 9, 1940, in Kenedy Texas. Both preceded him in death.

In the 1940s, Holston Sr.'s parents moved the Banks family to Big Spring, Texas, and founded the neighborhood known as the "Banks Addition" where Holston Sr. grew up with family and friends. He attended Lakeview School and graduated May 26, 1961, from Big Spring High School. On Nov. 10, 1963, he married wife Beatrice Theresa Detiege. Before she preceded him in death in 2009, the two celebrated 45 years of marriage.

Holston Banks Sr. leaves to cherish his wonderful memory: Vickie Minter Walker and husband Ronnie Walker of Elgin Texas, Clifford Detiege of San Antonio Texas, Bernadette Young and husband Stacey Young of Big Spring Texas, pastor of Shiloh House of Prayer, his son, Pastor Holston Banks Jr. and wife Linda Banks of Big Spring Texas, Priscilla Smith and husband John D Smith of Temple, Texas, Belinda Scott of Del Valle, Texas, Tyrone Banks and wife Robbi Banks of Odessa, Texas, Timothy Banks and wife Monica Banks of Dayton, Texas.

In addition to his eight children, Holston Sr. leaves to cherish his memory: one sister, Christine Bolden of Dallas, Texas; his aunt, Thelma Money of Big Spring Texas; 33 grandchildren; 31 great~grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and an abundance of friends.
