Howard-Odessa women's game postponed

January 27, 2012

A glitch in referee assignments resulted in the postponement of Thursday's Western Junior College Athletic Conference women's basketball game between Howard College and Odessa College.

The game is now set for a 6 p.m. tip-off tonight at Dorothy Garrett Coliseum.

HC officials said that the WJCAC administrator responsible for assigning officials to particular games failed to have referees available for Thursday's game in Big Spring. After failing to find alternate referees, officials from both schools decided upon the postponement.

“It's disappointing, of course,” Howard Coach Earl Diddle said. “I thought we were really ready to play. We had a good three days of preparation for this game and, certainly during warm-ups, the team looked ready to go.

“It's just one of those things,” he added. “We just have to deal with this little bit of adversity and get ready for (Friday's) game.”
