Hubert Donald 'H.D.' Barber

Hubert Donald “H.D.” Barber, 82, of Big Spring, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, after a long battle with cancer.
Hubert is survived by his wife of 55 years, Willie Barber; four sons, Junior Barber, Phil Barber and Daniel Barber, all of Big Spring, Texas, and Mark Barber of Plano, Texas; one daughter, Lana Munoz of Big Spring, Texas; 11 grandchildren, including John and Stacie Purcell, Tiffany Emerson, Cassie Emerson, Chris and Rachelle Ybarra, Jace and Phylesha Berkley-Tabor, Chaeley Barber, Kody Barber, Mickey Barber, Angela Randle, Glen Craven and Daphne Craven; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; three brothers, Billy Barber, James Barber and Dois Barber
One daughter, Linda Sue Barber; two sisters, Hazel Cook and Betty McGallard; and two brothers, Larlus Barber and Ronald Barber, all preceded him in death.
Hubert was a member of Grace Fellowship Church of God in Big Spring, Texas. He loved the Lord with all his heart and loved to tell people about God’s love and His goodness.
He worked for the City of Big Spring for more than 25 years and was also a truck driver much of his life. He was born in Howard County and spent most of his life there. He was also a veteran of the United States Navy.
The family will welcome family and friends at visitation for viewing and celebrating the life of Hubert on Friday, Nov. 16, from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at Myers & Smith Chapel on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Mount Olive Memorial Park.
Pastor Eddy Prince of Grace Fellowship Church and Walter McCall, chaplain of Compass Hospice, will officiate the funeral service.
Pallbearers will be John Purcell, Chris Ybarra, Jim Koerber, Patrick Heckler, Kody Barber and Carlos Lopez.
The family would like to express a special thanks to the caregivers at Compass Hospice, as well as their church family at Grace Fellowship Church for the love and support during Hubert’s illness.
