Hulen Autry (Ike) McKinney, 86, of Bellevue, Wash. died Thursday, May 1, 2014.

Hulen’s wife and daughters will receive friends and family from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 8, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, May 9, at the Mt. Olive Memorial Park Chapel.

Hulen is proceeded in death by his parents, Albert (Dutch) and Katheryne (Cassie) McKinney; and his brother, Donald. Hulen graduated from Big Spring High School and graduated from Texas A&M University in 1952.

Hulen’s professional career was with the U.S. Department of Agriculture as an entomologist. His career was throughout the United States in Plano, Texas, El Paso, Texas, Jacksonville, Fla., and, since 1975, Seattle, Wash., where he retired in 1989. Hulen traveled throughout the world to ensure that the United States' food and crops were safe.

Hulen was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge and a member of the Baptist Church. Hulen served in the National Guard after graduation from Texas A&M.

Hulen married Lula June Ritter Oct. 1, 1955 in McKinney, Texas.

Hulen is survived by his wife; and daughters, Norma McKinney-Roley and her husband Patrick Roley of Renton, Wash., and Janet McKinney-Marsh, and her husband Mark Marsh of Marietta, Ga. Hulen has three grandchildren, Kathryn McKinney-Roley, Danielle Marsh, and Trevor Marsh, along with several nieces and nephews.
