It's Coahoma Kindergarten Rodeo time

March 30, 2011

It's rodeo time again ... Coahoma Kindergarten Rodeo time.

The elementary gym will turn into a rodeo arena Thursday at 9 a.m. Approximately 58 students will take part in six main events; barrels, bronc riding, milking, flag relay, bull riding and poles. For decades, kindergartners at Coahoma have been a part of longtime tradition.

Thirty-three years ago, professional rodeo clown Quail Dobbs — now retired — and a group of kindergarten teachers had an idea that has blossomed into a community event.

“It started out as a small scale performance and it has just continued to grow and grow,” kindergarten teacher Jennifer Baccari said.
