James Henry Buhrkuhl

James (Jim) Henry Buhrkuhl, 71, of Big Spring died Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011, at Scenic Mountain Medical Center. Family and friends will gather at Myers & Smith Funeral Home on Oct. 29, 2011, at 2 p.m. Graveside services will follow at 3 p.m. at Trinity Memorial Park.

He was born Aug. 16, 1940, in Amarillo, Texas, to Henry August Buhrkuhl Jr. and Alice Hurst Rosser Buhrkuhl. He moved to Big Spring in 1969 where he started raising cattle with his wife Ann.

He is survived by his wife, Ann of Big Spring; son, James Kevin Buhrkuhl of Kileen, Texas; sister, Emily Dowdy and husband Bruce of Denver, Colo.; brothers, George Buhrkuhl and wife Fran of Burleson, Texas, and David Buhrkuhl and wife Cathryn of Flint, Texas; a stepdaughter, Cindi Yeaman and husband Bob of Benbrook, Texas; a stepson, Dwayne Norton and wife Ginger of Albany; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or A.S.P.C.A.
