James 'Jim' Reese

James “Jim” Reese, 83, of Big Spring, died Monday, Aug. 4, 2014, in a Midland hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Interment will follow at Mount Olive Memorial Park.
Jim was born in Leaky, Texas, on Dec. 23, 1930, to James and Ruby Hill Reese. He lived in Leaky until the age of 16 when the family moved to Camp Mystic, a girls’ camp in Hunt, Texas. He lived there until Sept. 13, 1948.
He joined the United States Army, serving eight years, two months and 28 days, then spent the next 20 years in the United States Air Force, retiring Nov. 1, 1968. He moved to Big Spring in October 1973 and owned many bars.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews; two sisters-in-law, Arlene Reese and Zada Tucker; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Vada; a son, James B. Reese; his parents; one brother, A.G. “Gene” Reese; and three sisters, Ramona, Audrey and an infant.
The family suggests memorials be made to a favorite charity.
