James Turner

James Turner, 86, of Big Spring, died Sunday July 20, 2014, at Parkview Nursing and Rehab. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Westlawn Cemetery in Borger, Texas.

He was born Dec. 17, 1927, to Peggy and Roy Lee Turner in Shamrock, Texas. He married Laura Martin on Nov. 14, 1954, in Corinth, Miss. He served 10 years in the United States Navy. He came to Big Spring in 2011. Before coming to Big Spring, he lived in Lubbock from 1981 to 2011.

He is survived by one daughter, Jackie Wilcox and husband Dennis of Big Spring; two sons, James Turner and wife Mary of Grand Prairie and Ron Turner of Lubbock; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one brother: Robert Turner of Reno, Nev.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one sister, Virginia Glass; and one great-great-grandson.
