Jerry L. Turney

Jerry L. Turney, 71, of Big Spring died Thursday, May 24, 2012, in a local hospital. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday, May 26, 2012, at the funeral home.

He was born Jan. 15, 1941, in Lamesa, Texas, and married Euna Vallene Wilkerson in July 1959. They had two sons, Jeffery and Jay. He later married Winnie E. Dippel on June 3, 1981.

Jerry graduated from Levelland High School and worked in automotive maintenance in Levelland and then in Big Spring. Jerry worked for Coca Cola Bottling Co., Cabot for 13 years, for Dorchester Gas in Sterling City for several years and retired from Sid Richardson Carbon Company after 20 years. He was a member of the Big Spring Regional Antique Automobile Club. He was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Winnie Turney of Big Spring; two sons, Jeffery L. Turney and wife Phyllis of Midland and Jay Turney and wife Amy of Phoenix, Ariz.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, C L. "Jack" and Lucille Turney.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Big Spring Humane Society, P.O. Box 823, Big Spring, Texas 79721-0823, the American Heart Association, P. O. Box 841125, Dallas TX 75284-1125, or to a favorite charity.
