Jimmie O. Huitt, 96, of Big Spring died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, at Trinity Baptist Church with Dr. Randy Cotton, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at the funeral home.
He was born June 19, 1916, in Eastland, Texas, and married Vera Mae McCarty on May 22, 1937, in Big Spring, Texas. She preceded him in death Jan. 15, 1997.
Jimmie worked for T&P Railroad while farming. He later began working for Cosden Oil Refinery, retiring after 35 years. He still loved farming and watching his family grow up. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter-in-Law, Becky Huitt of Big Spring; two grandsons, Quert Huitt and wife Denise of Big Spring and Terry Huitt and wife Oleta of Tyler; five great-grandchildren, Jeffery Huitt of Fredericksburg, Clint Bingham of San Antonio, Brandon Bingham of Snyder and Kara Bingham and Taylor Heckler, both of Big Spring; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by one son, Kenneth Huitt; four brothers, Billy Ray Huitt, John Lee Huitt, Charlie Huitt and Calvin Huitt; and two sisters, Mary Maurine Huitt and Ruby Nix.
The family suggests memorials be made to Trinity Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 1448, Big Spring, TX 79721-1448.
