John Phillip Wilson, 78 went to be with the Lord Friday, May 23, 2014. John was born to James Earl and Gladys Wilson Jan. 21, 1936. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Peggy Wilson of Big Spring; his daughter, Valerie Lynn Wilson Gammon and husband, Thomas Austin Gammon of Austin; three grandsons, Phillip Andrew Gammon of Midland, Matthew Douglas Gammon and wife, Valerie Lynn of Dallas and Thomas Wilson Gammon of Austin; one sister, Nancy Ford of Elroy, Utah; one brother, James Edward Wilson; and a cousin, Nadine Hollensed of Tom Bean. John was preceded in death by his son, John Phillip Wilson, Jr.; and his aunt and uncle, Ralph and Opal Nason.
John attended school in Lubbock and Lamesa. He graduated from Lamesa High School in 1955 and attended Hardin-Simmons University, graduating with a BBA in 1960. He became a Certified Public Accountant March 24, 1967. He served in the United States Army from September 1960 to September 1962, being discharged as a 1st Lieutenant.
John was a member of the First Baptist Church of Big Spring. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, May 30, 2014, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 31, 2014, at the First Baptist Church Chapel, with the Rev. Mark Lindsey, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.
