Joint law enforcement center on commissioners' agenda

Howard County commissioners are expected discuss a proposed joint law enforcement center that would house the sheriff's office and city police department during their Monday meeting, as the county looks to move forward with the project.

Members of the Big Spring City Council recently held a meeting alongside Howard County commissioners to present the proposed center — which would be located at the newly built county jail, located on W. Highway 80 — to the public.

According to County Judge Mark Barr, Monday's discussion will likely lead to a vote on the matter, a hurdle he feels the court must clear before moving forward with planning for a joint facility.
