Joyce Harris, 82, of Big Spring died Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011, at her residence. The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2011, at Myers & Smith Chapel with the Rev. Don Snipes officiating. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. at the Sweetwater Cemetery.
She was born Feb. 7, 1929, in Sweetwater, Texas, to Venie and E.J. Kuykendall. She grew up in Sweetwater. She married Harvey Harris on Jan. 21, 1950, in Sweetwater. They moved to Big Spring in 1953. She attended Gulf Coast Business School in Sweetwater and worked at Higginbotham Bartlett while in Sweetwater. She retired in 1995 from Delta Lightning Arrestors after 32 years. She was a faithful member of Baptist Temple Church. She served 27 years in bus ministeries at five Big Spring churches.
She is survived by her husband, Harvey Harris of Big Spring; one brother, Pete Kuykendall of Fort Worth; two nephews, Tim Kuykendall and wife Phyllis of Fort Worth and Don Kuykendall and wife Christy of Tampa, Fla.; and a niece, Tobie Kuykendall of Austin.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Ray Kuykendall Sr., of Sweetwater.
Pallbearers will be Tim Kuykendall, Daryl Wood, Allan Johnson, Jim Grummett, Jimmy Edwards and Jason Campos.
