Joyce Kemper Ditto, 86, of Big Spring, Texas, died Monday, Aug. 11, 2014, in a local nursing home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug.14, 2014, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Shawn Gary and Derrick Looney, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
She was born June 16, 1928, in Dallas, Texas, and married Clarence "Son" Ditto Dec. 21, 1946, in Big Spring, Texas. He preceded her in death Jan. 21, 2002.
She was a longtime resident of Howard and Martin counties. She graduated from Knott High School and attended college in Lubbock. Joyce raised her family on her grandparents homestead in Knott and was a homemaker and hard worker. She loved quilting and helped make quilts for the raffle at the Howard County Fair.
She was an active member of the 14th and Main Church of Christ.
Survivors include her son, Kyle Ditto and wife, Valencia, of Granbury, Texas; her daughter, D'Aun Taylor and husband, Ron, of Knott; three grandchildren, Tad Taylor, Dr. Shey Ditto and wife, Connie, and Colby Ditto and wife, Atyka; four great-grandchildren, Blayne Ditto, Brayden Ditto, Akyah Ditto and Tyler Ditto; and a sister, Louellen Romine of Arkansas.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, James and Grace Kemper; a sister, Marvelene Dickson; and a brother, James Ollie Kemper.
The family suggests memorials to Medina Children's Home, 21300 State Highway 16 North, Medina, Texas 78055.
