The Big Spring Junior All-Stars are heading to sectionals after winning the Junior League West Texas Division 3 Championship 15-6 over the Midland All-Stars.
Big Spring got off to a hot start, building an 8-1 lead after three innings, and five runs in the third inning helped their cause. Jared Marquez led things off by reaching on an error, and Gabe Gomez and Jonathon Schneider loaded the bases with a single and a walk. J.C. Escovedo drove in a run with a bit-by-pitch, and after a strikeout, Jeremiah Johnson reached on an error by the first baseman to bring in another run. With the bases still loaded, Zack Schneider and Isaac Murillo hit back-to-back to drive in the other three runs in the inning.
Midland made things interesting by coming back in the top of the fifth and sixth with five runs of their own, and Big Spring looked to be hanging on as momentum slipped slightly in favor of Midland.
