Kevin Brent Matteson, 51, of Sand Springs passed away Jan. 22, 2012, at his residence. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at 1006 N. Moss Lake Road. A Memorial Service will be held in Big Spring at Myers & Smith Chapel, located at 301 E. 24th St., at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, with the Rev. Carroll Kohl officiating. The memorial is open to the public and the family invites all who knew Kevin and the Matteson family to attend.

Kevin was born Aug. 21, 1960, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Elaine and Ralph Matteson. He attended school in Big Spring and joined the U.S. Army in 1978, serving six years. Upon his release from the Army, he took on various jobs, including driving big rigs in the oil patch, which he really enjoyed.

He landed a position with Power Resources at the former Cosden Oil and Chemical Company, and it was this position he loved working in the most. Kevin also worked at the Big Spring State Hospital in the steam plant.

Kevin loved animals, especially adoring his little dog, Misty. She was his world.

Kevin is survived by his parents, Ralph R. Matteson and Elaine R. (Colton) Matteson of Coahoma; four brothers, Randy Matteson and sister-in-law Lucinda of Colorado Springs, Colo., Renald Matteson and sister-in-law Alisa of Sand Springs, Roger Matteson of Las Vegas, Nev., and Kent Matteson of Sand Springs; three sisters, Karen Matteson, Teresa Matteson and Tammy Adams, all of Big Spring; three nephews, Ian Matteson, Sean Matteson and Keith Smith; three nieces, Kendra Smith, Ashley Pate and Kiri Matteson; and two great-nephews and one great-niece, the children of Keith and Kendra Smith of Big Spring.
