Lacy Edwards, 69, of Big Spring died Monday, Aug. 6, 2012, at his residence. The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Myers & Smith Chapel with Rick Cunningham and Patrick Robinson officiating. Burial with military honors will be at Trinity Memorial Park.

He was born Oct. 26, 1942, in Sikeston, Mo., to Virginia and Jack Edwards. He has been a resident of Big Spring for 25 years, moving from Snyder. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and the Air Force, serving in Vietnam with both. His medals and awards included: Air Force Gallantry Unit Award, Vietnam Gallantry Cross, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, The Air Force Longevity Service Medal, The Air Force Good Conduct Medal, The Navy Good Conduct Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit Medal and The National Defense Medal.

He graduated from Western Texas College in Snyder. He worked for Texaco in Snyder and worked for CRMWD after he moved to Big Spring. He married Darlene Pirkle on Feb. 9, 1997, in Big Spring. He attended 14th & Main Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife, Darlene Edwards of Big Spring; three children, Michael Edwards and wife Janet of Sikeston, Mo., Stacey Snelson and husband Jason of Cowetta, Okla., and Paul Edwards and wife Tracy of Troy, Ill.; three step-sons: Jay Pirkle and wife Linn of Albuquerque, Kevin Pirkle and wife Elsa of Donna and Kris Pirkle and wife Andrea of Amarillo; his mother: Sue Yerges of Sikeston, Mo.; two sisters: Sharon Duncan of Sikeston, Mo. and Sue Ann Lawrence and husband Frank of Chicago, Ill.; 12 grandchildren; and mother-in-law Georgia Lankford. of Big Spring.

He was preceded in death by his father; one sister, Bonnie Edwards;, his step-father, Royce Yerges; and brother-in-law, Dale Duncan.
